The little Bouillon Pharamond can be compared to the Bouillon Chartier, but with a more intimate atmosphere. Bouillon Pharamond is the restaurant founded in 1832, renovated in an Art Nouveau style for the Universal Exhibition of 1900, with its famous floral ceramics. The restaurant has two main rooms and 4 lounges.
Bouillons Parisiens were popular establishments, created at the end of the 19th century, where generally served French traditional and economical cuisine, originally “bouillon”.
Now they are very trendy, getting a makeover and riding the wave of homemade products at very affordable prices.
François Mitterrand was a regular at Bouillon Pharamond and Jacques Chirac also frequented it on several occasions. If you appreciate the atmosphere of the Parisian Belle Époque and simple, well-interpreted traditional French cuisine, this restaurant should appeal to you.
The menu highlights the emblematic dishes of the bouillons and 100% homemade cuisine: mimosa eggs (1€90), leeks vinaigrette (3€50), beef bourguignon (10€90), duck confit (12€90)…
It’s not possible to make reservations, as the restaurant is very popular, we recommend to you avoid peak times (12:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. for lunch and 8 p.m.-10 p.m. for dinner) and arrive earlier or later. This place can prove to be a very good plan for a “before or after party”, for example.
On the second floor, for an additional fee, the Bouillon Pharamond offers four lounges accessible by privatization only, which can accommodate two to fifteen people.

And now let’s start our meal. We order foie gras and roasted camembert with organic honey. As for wines, the place offers 25 cl, 50 cl and 1 L bottles at low prices. We ordered a 50cl bottle of Languedoc red wine (€8.40), very good value for money.

Our two starters were simple, but well prepared, with quality products.
We were more surprised by the dishes: The lentil savory was really very good, very fragrant and we could smell the aromas of the bacon and the bouquet garni.
As for the meat of the beef bourguignon, it came apart perfectly and was very tender. Accompanied by « coquillettes », a real return to childhood!

To finish we ordered a brioche with salted butter caramel, also a comforting dish from my childhood.
The big winner is undoubtedly the fig tartlet. It’s mounted on shortbread topped with whipped cream, fresh figs and fig syrup. It’s really delicious and worthy of a very good pastry.

In the summary, we had a great time in a really pleasant setting which immersed us in the atmosphere of the Parisian Belle Époque. The service was courteous and attentive. We discovered simple, well-interpreted traditional cuisine at unbeatable prices. Run there!
